Legal Services for Families

Marc Kittner is an experienced attorney who practices law to help families achieve their aims and overcome their challenges. Marc practices family law exclusively. He has extensive experience in court, but, like all experienced family law lawyers, he settles most cases through informal discovery and mediation, or a combination of mediation and arbitration.

Marc graduated from Georgetown University in 1981 (honors, American Criminal Law Review), and he spent his first year as a clerk to Judge Bright on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit. He then returned to Seattle in 1982, teaching legal writing and appellate advocacy at what is now Seattle University School of Law. Marc then joined the law firm that is now K&L Gates, where his favorite project was helping to build the Downtown Seattle Bus Tunnel, critical to managing Seattle's traffic. He then joined Washington Mutual, helping to build it into a national company. When Marc left Washington Mutual, he wanted to develop a practice that helped people with their most important and issues: such as taking care of their children and going through a dissolution (divorce).

Marc's own experience with a difficult divorce gives him a useful perspective to help his clients. Both paid and pro bono cases involving prenuptial and living together agreements, child custody and parenting plans, child support as well as property division have prepared him to meet most family law needs facing partners in traditional and non-traditional families. He has successfully represented both men and women, fathers and mothers. Click here to learn more
